Today I celebrate Amy Oppenheimer’s birthday. Here we are in younger days.
We met in Washington DC. She had been talked up as a cute, funny, idealistic young lawyer, writer, and theater performer, which was right on point.
Several years later, we both found ourselves in Northern California & have been faithful companions since 1984.
This post today finds us on the road between New York and California (though I’m composing the post from NY prior to departure). It is our sixth cross country car trip since COVID. If all goes according to plan, we’ll be hiking today with our friends Mary Ann and Perry in Grand Junction, Colorado. Our itinerary:
Shokan, NY to Rochester, NY - Christmas eve and morning with my dad
Rochester to Ann Arbor - visiting with Joy, Doug, and Alan
Ann Arbor to St. Louis - dinner with Lori and dog walk around Wash U.
St. Louis to Manhattan, KS - see what how different the KS prairies are from IA and NE.
Manhattan, KS to Aurora, CO - Three dog dinner with newlywed cousins Nicole and Dan
Aurora to Grand Junction - at last, a couple of days NOT driving. We celebrate Amy’s b-day by not getting in the car.
Grand Junction to Elko - yes, it will be the slots for New Year’s Eve. I’ll probably be asleep by 9:00.
Elko to Berkeley, CA - Hip Hip Hooray!
If you have more time and are so inclined here’s a video curated by Apple. A couple of strays snuck in and I have no idea how to edit them out.
Amy, have a great trip round the sun!
Wonderful! So many beautiful memories and moments over the years with you both. Happy birthday dear Amy
